Coloring the white wall…to Intifada NYC
These days, you’ll find me packing our house away, selling some, giving some and storing the rest… but I want to travel light, so I keep on shedding. My partner and I have decided to go nomad for a little while and reestablish ourselves in Brazil… close to Rio or Salvador de Bahia, ideally. This is not only a big move, but also a statement… in that we are sick and tired of the US’s dominant lack of real vibe and life, beyond an ever-expanding virtual reality, combined with sexual repression at home, and military violence around the world. And all of “this” comes at a high price in both taxes and resistance energy to the daily brainwashing managed by Big Brother.
At least there is Manhattan, close-by, and always standing up for the good or for the bad of the empire.
I was reading an article in the Washington Post on the latest example of fachism, bullshit, unfounded hatred and antisemitism right in New York City…. and then, they say that New York is not America! The long and the short of the story is that since the formation of the Khalil Gibran International Academy in Brooklyn, the troups of “let’s repeat the trauma we’ve known on another ethnic group” with illustrous members such as Daniel Pipes, have decided to shut it down before it even manifests!
And what is the biggest crime of the Khalil Gibran International Academy? Well, if this initiative actually comes to life, it would teach maths in Arabic to kids. However we live in a world, where hateful, unfounded, group targeting is acceptable as long as it is targeting the “OTHER”semitic group, the Arabs.
“Daniel Pipes, a pro-Israel conservative who created Campus Watch, a Web site dedicated to exposing alleged bias in university Middle East-studies programs, wrote in the New York Sun that the school would cause problems because “learning Arabic in [and] of itself promotes an Islamic outlook.” [in: "In New York, a Word Starts a Fire";
Arabic Educator's Brief Defense of 'Intifada' T-Shirts Makes Her a Target; By Robin Shulman; Washington Post Staff Writer; Friday, August 24, 2007]
How can we pretend that this is barely OK? Could you imagine how you would feel if your mother’s or father’s language and culture and people were being targeted and labelled hatefully and unfairly? I mean seriously, just how many Muslim military bases or troups are stationned indefinitely in a Christian country? Or for that matter: are Palestinians occupying the Jewish state? Why is it so difficult to just admit the truth? Do we as a people prefer to repeat the pattern endlessly and kill others, exterminate a whole ethnic group, in the name of pre-emptive strike or our religious book?
The 20th century is the century with the highest recorded number of massacres and genocides… where is the so-called progress? Evolution is not just a question of sending a man on the moon, it is a matter of evolving patterns in our lives so that our humanity can blossom… and not this nightmare AKA the New World Order.
